The explosion of the tech world has created a way to access all types of documents through the web. So, now we use our computers, tablets and phones to read books and such. While this makes things easier for us it reduces social interaction and sends us further on our way to the lazy farm. Yes, I realize there are still public libraries but there has been a huge decrease in their usage since the advent of the internet.
I remember when the Bookmobile came around once a week. It was really cool, it was a modified bus with a whole bunch of books. You check out what you want and keep it for a week until the Bookmobile came back. So, while we have become more efficient, we have created for ourselves a way to get things done with little or no effort.
That is why so many people now have been stricken with 'The Fatness'.
